Nicaragua

Our friend Sarah has to do visa runs everything 3 months to make she doesn't get deported from Costa Rica which means spending at least 72 hours outside the country. So we decided to join her and took a 8 hour bus ride north to Granada, Nicaragua
Granada is beautiful. It has tons of old Spanish style buildings and is on a huge lake.
Even our hostel was colorful
Except this was in our room. lol.
We spend one day at lake apollo kayaking and swimming and just enjoying ourselves.
The water was perfect.
We got a little red.
One awesome thing is that Nicaragua is cheap, especially compared to Costa Rica.
There was a huge market there and you could get all sorts of stuff like bags of water! Who knew.
We were walking around the street corner and I saw this! Yes a box of apples. But not any apples. Holtzinger apples! For those of you who don't know I spend all of September and October working everyday checking apples for this company. I even look at the grower code on the box and they are from ACL farms which is in Zillah and I've been to their orchard! Crazy that these apples I saw from the orchard to the warehouse to streets of Nicaragua.
I'd love to go back to Nicaragua someday. While it's noticably poorer here, the people sure have personality.  My favorite memory was on our way to another market we were on a old painted school bus that was packed to the brim and there was an old lady just chanting away about Jesus and all sorts of stuff. I'm pretty sure the lady in the seat over had a pig in her lap too. It was the craziest ride of my life. I wish I had more pictures from this trip but the humidity was making my camera act up so this is the best I could get.
